Premium Tech Publishers Experts-Exchange, MajorGeeks, iNet Interactive Select EchoTopic® for In-Text Advertising

EMERYVILLE, CA – June 10, 2008Exponential Interactive Inc., the technology-driven media services company that delivers innovative products and services to meet the demands of advertisers and publishers, today announced the rapid adoption of EchoTopic among premium Tribal Fusion technology publishers.  EchoTopic, the company’s in-text advertising solution, is designed to reach readers with relevant advertising messages in a highly-targeted environment. Leading technology publishers such as Experts-Exchange, MajorGeeks and iNet Interactive have partnered with Exponential’s Tribal Fusion, the online advertising network and leading site-representation company, to offer customized, contextually relevant content and advertising solutions.

These publishers have found that running EchoTopic in-text advertising campaigns on their sites translates into engaged readers who are more receptive to advertising messages. EchoTopic delivers highly relevant advertising, and users are more likely to click on an ad placed in related content. The EchoTopic proprietary technology uses true semantic analysis to determine the topic of the page and serves relevant advertising based on that topic. Competing product offerings merely use simple keyword highlighting, which is often contextually less relevant and generally less effective. EchoTopic’s compelling differentiator translates into more appropriate advertisements and a more engaging user experience.

Since the launch of EchoTopic last fall, Tribal Fusion has experienced a significant rate of adoption by premium publishers seeking to generate additional revenue from their quality content. Experts-Exchange, an online community for IT professionals, has signed an exclusive agreement with Tribal Fusion to handle all of the site’s display and in-text advertising.

Similarly, MajorGeeks, a shareware technology site where users can search for software and freeware that attracts over 5 million visitors per month, has been working closely with Tribal Fusion since 2001, and the relationship has expanded considerably over the years. MajorGeeks has deployed the EchoTopic in-text advertising solution and has seen strong results.

Yet another valued partner, iNet Interactive, a social media company specializing in community-driven sites such as HotScripts.com, WebHostingTalk.com, and MacForums.com in the technology industry. The company uses EchoTopic for all of their in-text advertising and has seen a major increase in revenue resulting since implementing EchoTopic across a number of sites in its portfolio.

The EchoTopic proprietary technology scans indexes and analyzes each page to determine the true topic of the page. It then determines which words on the page are related to the main topic and highlights them with ads that are relevant for the content. When a user moves the mouse over a highlighted word or phrase, a highly-relevant in-text message appears as a balloon advertisement.

The ad unit can incorporate text, graphics and video, and the user is able to click through to the advertiser's website for additional information about the product. EchoTopic enables advertisers to target their customers when they are most receptive - reading relevant content. Campaigns target a set of topics, are purchased on a pay-per-click model and are managed through a simple self-service interface.
